KIDS’ CLASSES

Melted Crayon Make & Take (Ages 7 and up)

Instructor: Mia Vang

Description: Come make some melted crayon art to take home. Materials, examples, and ideas will be provided.

Mother’s Day Make & Take (Ages 3 and up)

Instructor: Margie Ponce

Description: Hey Dad, bring your children in to make a beautiful original Mother’s Day gift and handmade card. Children will have a choice of 3 projects. Project is free, but donations are welcome. Come and go session.

Deep Space Summer Art Camp (Sessions for ages 3 & 4, 5 to 7, 8 to 10, and 11 to 13)

Description: Blast off into Deep Space Art Camp for an out of this world adventure!

BOOK & PAPER ARTS

Bookbinding 101 (Ages 13 to adult)

Instructor: Roger Mullins

Description: This course is a basic, entry-level session into *non-adhesive bookbinding. Participants will learn the basics of paper grain, folding paper, sewing up sections (signatures), and making a decorative binding. No experience required, but needles for sewing will be used, so due caution is required.  *Adhesive bindings are an option.

Scrap Booking Day (Ages 10 to adult)

Description: Come learn to scrapbook or just work on your current project. Bring your own supplies. Tools and limited supplies will be available.

DRAWING/PAINTING

Beginning Drawing (Ages 12 and up)

Instructor: Lewis Moses

Description:  Students will explore the fundamentals of shapes, forms, perspective, contrast, lights, and darks. The instructor’s goal is to have each student draw more realistically and to have fun working towards that goal!

Beginning Gouache Painting (Ages 12 and up)

Instructor: Andrea Drain-Langston

Description: This introduces students to the history and application of gouache painting methods and their aesthetic applications in the creation of original artwork. Emphasis will be on composition, design principles and color, and use of technique.

Zentangles (Ages 13 and up)

Instructor: Margo Taylor

Description: Students will learn how to make those zentangle patterns that are so fun. Students will create a 12” x 16” picture using zentangle skills and then color it in.

FIBER ARTS

Weaving Open Studio with Instruction (Ages 16 to adult)

Instructor: Susan Chinburg

Description: Bring a project or idea and we will work together to make it happen. Even if you don’t have a very defined idea, come to the first session and we will help you get it set up. Student must have taken beginning or introduction to floor loom weaving, or have permission from the instruction.

Plant Pot Watering Globes (Ages 16 and up)

Description: Students will learn the basics of torch blown glass and will create 2 watering globes in this workshop.

NEEDLE ARTS

Knitted Sleeping Mats for the Homeless (Ages 10 and up)

Instructor: Judy Kail

Description: Learn to knit together sleeping mats for the homeless. Students will put together sleeping mats using plastic bags. Bring your knitting stuff if you have it, if not we do have some available for use. This class is free to the public.

Needle Craft Night (Ages 12 and up)

Instructor: Margie Ponce/Cery Norvelle

Description: Come join us on Monday nights and bring your needlework for a social time. Knitting, crochet, tatting, cross-stitch, anything you want!

Crochet Star Wars Amigurumi (Ages 12 and up)

Instructor: Cery Norvelle

Description: Students should have basic crochet skills. Amigurumi are miniature stuffed dolls that come in a variety of sizes. Students will create 2 classic Star Wars characters and will receive a kit that includes a book with instructions for 10 other characters, yarn, stuffing, and eyes.

Doctor Who Paint Party (Ages 5 and up)

Description: Calling all Whovians! Set your T.A.R.D.I.S. space time co-ordinates to join us for a Doctor Who themed paint party. Snacks and door prizes will be provided. Costumes and sonic screwdrivers are optional.

Star Wars Paint Party (Ages 5 and up)

Description: Whether you are a storm trooper, a rebel, or a Jedi, come and join us for a fun filled evening as we paint a Star Wars themed picture. Costumes are welcomed and there will be snacks and door prizes. May the Fourth be with you!

Star Trek Paint Party (Ages 5 and up)

Description: Come out and help us celebrate the new Star Trek series! We will create a Star Trek themed painting. We will have snacks and door prizes. Come dressed as your favorite character.

POTTERY & CERAMICS

Pottery Combo (Ages 12 and up)

Instructor: Buck Dollarhide

Description: This class has been intentionally designed for a mix of students with varied skill levels as well as a mix of instructed verses non-instructed class times. The past 50+ years of pottery experience has convinced the instructor this arrangement provides an optimum learning environment by providing time for structured teaching as well as time for students to work at their own pace on their specified projects or areas of interest. This maximizes the student’s total pottery experience. Topics covered will include mixing and wedging clay, pinch pots, coil pots, hand building, slab building, wheel throwing, and glazing and finishing techniques.

Wheel Throwing Pottery (Ages 15 and up)

Instructor: Eileen Johnson

Description: Class will cover basic pottery techniques: pinch pots, coils, slabs, and wheel throwing. Students will learn how to score, wedge, center, pull walls, and shape wheel thrown pieces as well as assembling hand built pieces. Projects will include pinch pot, coiled bowl, thrown cylinder, and slab box.
